Nicholasville, KY – After two of the most exciting matches we’ve seen to this point in the championship, it will once again be CMS (1) and UChicago (2) who will meet in the finals of the ITA Division III Women’s National Team Indoor Championship Finals.

First, for the top-seeded Athenas, semifinal play got off to a strong start as CMS won courts no. 1 and no. 3 to head into singles with a slight advantage over Johns Hopkins. In singles, things were pushed even closer as Hopkins earned a quick straight-set victory on court no. 5 to level the score at one with the remaining five matches heading to three sets.

Coming up big when the moment is the largest, CMS showcased its veteran presence as they took all of the remaining three-set matches to earn its spot in the finals. The Athenas have now made back-to-back ITA Indoor Finals and are the two-time reigning NCAA National Team Champions.

Across today’s other semifinal match, UChicago toughed out a tight match against Pomona Pitzer to solidify their third straight ITA Indoor Finals appearance. The Maroons got things started today in doubles when they won across all three positions to move into singles with a 1-0 lead over the Sagehens.

In singles, Pomona Pitzer wouldn’t take long to fight back as they would take courts no. 2 and no. 3 in straight sets, while UChicago won court no. 1 in straight sets to tie the match up at one all. After UChicago picked up a third point on court no. 4, it was Brooke Pedersen on court no. 6 who clinched the match with an impressive three-set win when the stakes were the highest.

Tomorrow’s final will be a familiar sight for many college tennis fans as CMS and UChicago have met in the last three major national championships in Division III women’s tennis with CMS coming out victors in the 2022 and 2023 NCAA Championships, while UChicago took down the Athenas in the 2023 ITA National Team Indoor Championship Final.

The Finals will be played tomorrow from the Top Seed Tennis Club with the seventh and fifth place matches beginning at 8 am (EST) and the 3rd place match and finals starting not before 10:30 am (EST). Fans can follow all of the action on the ITA website, WeAreCollegeTennis.com, or on social media at @ITA_Tennis on both Instagram and X (formerly Twitter).
