Following the conclusion of the 2024 ITA Kickoff Weekend, the fields are set for the upcoming ITA Division I Men’s and Women’s National Team Indoor Championships. 

For the 2024 ITA Division I Men’s National Team Indoor Championships, the 16 ITA Kickoff Weekend teams that are advancing include: Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, Duke, Harvard, Michigan, Ohio State, South Carolina, TCU, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, USC, Virginia, and Wake Forest.

With a 4-2 win over No. 10 Kentucky, Alabama earned a spot to the 2024 ITA Indoor Championships, marking the first time since 2010 that the Tide emerged as the regional champion. The victory over the Wildcats marked Alabama’s highest-ranked victory since its upset win over No. 11 Florida State in 2018. 

No. 14 Michigan handed No. 9 Stanford its first loss of the season on Sunday in a close 4-3 defeat. Michigan’s Patorn Hanchaikul clinched the match at No. 5 singles, defeating Stanford’s No. 53 Neel Rajesh 6-2, 5-7, 6-2. With this win, the Wolverines advance to the ITA Indoor Championships for the second straight year and fourth time overall. 

For the first time in program history, Arizona is headed to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships with a 4-2 victory over No. 24 Baylor. With the win, the Wildcats broke the 13-year streak Baylor maintained in qualifying for the indoor championship. The Cats also kept their undefeated record this past weekend, now 4-0 on the season.

Coming off a 4-3 win against No. 25 Florida State in the first round of the ITA Kickoff Weekend, Arizona State continued to roll, beating VCU 4-2 in the regional final. The Rams had just come off a huge win against No. 12 Mississippi State the day before. The undefeated weekend earned the Sun Devils a berth in the ITA Indoor Championships, the first time in program history that the team has done so.  

Without losing a match, Ohio State, TCU, and Duke went undefeated throughout the duration of the ITA Kickoff Weekend.

The ITA Men’s Indoor Championships, hosted by Columbia, will be played in New York, New York from Feb. 16-19 at the Philip & Cheryl Milstein Family Tennis Center and the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Four-time reigning Indoor Champions, North Carolina, will make a return at the ITA Indoor Championships looking for their fifth title. The Tar Heels, 7-0 this spring, will head to Seattle with the hopes of continuing their perfect record for the season thus far. 

California’s junior Lan Mi pulled out a three-set victory at No. 6 singles to give No. 19 California the 4-3 win over No. 16 Oklahoma on Sunday. The doubles point and wins from Mao Mushika on court five and Katja Wiersholm on court 4 secured the Bears continued quest for a second National Indoor title, capturing the program’s first ever in 2016. 

In another decisive 4-3 match win, Florida’s Carly Briggs came from behind to secure the Gator’s spot at the ITA Women’s Indoor Championships. Falling down into a 6-7, 3-5 deficit, Briggs initiated a defiant comeback, taking the second and eventually the third to get the win over San Diego’s Claudia De Las Heras 6-7, 7-6, 6-1. 

No. 18 USC battled back after dropping the doubles point to defeat No. 17 Tennessee 4-2, handing the Volunteers their first loss of the season. 

Ohio State, Texas, Michigan, Texas A&M, NC State, Pepperdine and UNC all went undefeated throughout the duration of the ITA Kickoff Weekend. 

The ITA Women’s Indoor Championships, hosted by Washington, will be played in Seattle, Washington from Feb. 9-12 at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
