The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) and Universal Tennis are once again teaming up to bring summer tennis to collegiate players, high-level juniors, and adults. The ITA Tour: Summer Circuit by UTR will be held over six consecutive weekends beginning June 19th and ending July 26th.

Who Can Compete?

The ITA Tour: Summer Circuit by UTR is an open event. That means collegiate players, high-level juniors, and even adults can compete in the tournaments. Since the events are classified as “open,” they do not conflict with NCAA compliance rules.

All Summer Circuit players must be ITA Members to compete. The ITA Player Membership can be purchased for $30 and will qualify the member to compete in all ITA Tour events between May 3, 2021, and April 30, 2022.

Where Are The Tournaments?

Over 80 tournaments will be held during the six-week span. The tournaments span the country and will take place in 32 different states. For the first time ever, the Summer Circuit will host a tournament outside of the continental U.S. in Hawaii. All tournaments will be hosted either on college campuses or by public and private facilities.

How Do You Register?

To register for a Summer Circuit event, first, you must become an ITA Player Member. The ITA Player Membership is available to purchase now.

Individual tournament registration is scheduled to be available on Monday, May 17th for week one tournaments. Registration for the remaining weeks will open the following five Mondays. Each week’s registration will remain open until the Sunday before the tournament is played. Follow the ITA on social media or visit the event page for more updates and information.

Each tournament will have a $65 registration fee. This fee covers registration for singles and doubles play (if applicable). Depending on court availability and safe play guidelines, some tournaments may offer doubles competition.

To increase the number of competitive matches in the Circuit, selections into each tournament will be based on player UTR. Additionally, draws will be limited to 32 players. If a tournament has multiple flights, a player’s UTR will be used to determine flight placement.

Why Should You Participate?

The Summer Circuit offers tennis players the opportunity to sharpen their skills against top competition in the collegiate and junior ranks. Summer Circuit events will give players the opportunity to participate in local competition and have their scores count towards verified UTR. The top players on the Circuit will be recognized in the ITA Summer Circuit Points Race every week. At the conclusion of the Circuit, the top five men and top five women will receive an automatic entry into the ITA National Summer Championships along with a travel reimbursement to help cover the cost of competing at the ITA National Summer Championships. More information on the ITA National Summer Championships will be released at a later date.
