The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) is proud to announce the selection of Johns Hopkins for the 2024 ITA Division III Women’s National Team Indoor Sportsmanship Award.

Awarded each year following the conclusion of the ITA Division III National Women’s Team Indoor Championships, the ITA Division III Team Sportsmanship Award is presented to the team that displays exceptional sportsmanship, character, and ethical conduct during the national championship event.

“I’m delighted for the team to win this award,” stated Johns Hopkins Head Women’s Tennis Coach, Daniel Pollock. “All the teams at the tournament deserve acknowledgment for the way in which they conducted themselves on and off the court. We had a great experience competing in Kentucky, and much of that was derived from the classy and honest competition on both sides of the net. In our program, we put a huge emphasis on competing hard and supporting each other, but doing so in a positive, fair, and mature manner. Our team this year is especially young and inexperienced, so for them to start their careers being recognized in this way at such a prestigious event is something to be very proud of!”

Coming in as the fifth-seeded team, Johns Hopkins reached the semifinals at the 2024 ITA Division III Women’s National Team Indoor Championships after taking down Emory in the first round. Johns Hopkins is now 7-3 on the young season and have ambitions to make another deep run in the 2024 NCAA Team Championships after reaching the quarterfinals last season.

The ITA Division III Women’s National Team Indoor Sportsmanship Award is now in its ninth year, and Johns Hopkins now joins a long list of previous winners who have been an example of exceptional sportsmanship on one of the biggest of stages in all of college tennis.
