2018 ITA Cup – Sunday Recap


ROME, GA – The final day of the 2018 ITA Cup concluded with championship men’s and women’s doubles matches at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College in Rome, Georgia.

The two victors not only took home ITA Cup hardware but also earned an automatic bid into next month’s 2018 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex in Surprise, Arizona.
Georgia Gwinnett’s Valentino Caratini and Ayed Zatar won the men’s doubles ITA Cup title, defeating Alvaro Regalado and Zach Whaanga of Columbus State 7-6 (3), 6-1.

The women’s doubles ITA Cup went to the Tyler Junior College duo of Maria Genovese and Anna Brogan, as they turned back Barry’s Verena Schmid and Zuza Maciejewska 6-1, 7-5.

Singles divisional champions also earned automatic entry into the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, which take place November 7-11. Check out Saturday’s recap to see who qualified.
