New York, NY – The Ohio State Buckeyes emerged victorious on the final day of the 2024 ITA Division I Men’s National Team Indoor Championship, defeating TCU in the championship match to claim their third ITA Indoor Championship in program history.

Starting with doubles, the Horned Frogs jumped out to an early advantage taking courts No. 1 and No. 2 to head into singles with the one-point lead. This marked the third time in four matches this weekend in which the Buckeyes have dropped the doubles point, but today’s singles proved to be the toughest to make up ground over all of their matches this weekend as the Horned Frogs showed no signs of backing down.

In singles, TCU was the first team to strike, adding to their lead with wins from Jake Fearnley at the No. 1 singles position as well as Jack Pinnington Jones at the No. 2 position. These two singles victories propelled the Horned Frogs to a 3-0 lead, but it was clear that the Buckeyes were not going to back down on the other four courts.

Earning straight-set victories on courts No. 3 and No. 4, the Buckeyes were quickly catapulted back into the match as they now only trailed by one with the final two matches headed to decisive third set tiebreakers to decide the match.

Finishing first on court No. 6, the Buckeyes were able to tie the match at 3-3 after Alexander Bernard bounced back after dropping the second set to win 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 for a huge momentum boost for the Buckeyes who haven’t been level in the match since the first serve in the match.

The clinch came from court No. 5 and Robert Cash who defeated Lui Maxted of TCU 6-7, 6-4, 6-4 to begin the celebrations for Ohio State. The fifth-year from New Albany, Ohio has been a clutch player all weekend for the Buckeyes and he delivered again today in the biggest of moments, executing the vision that much of the roster shares.

Today’s title was the first since 2019 for Ohio State and marks their third-ever ITA Indoor Title (2014, 2019, 2024). The Buckeyes remain unbeaten on the season and sport wins over Virginia (x2), Wake Forest, South Carolina, Alabama, Harvard, and TCU this season.
