SEATTLE, Wash. – After three days of intense competition, it will be Michigan (4) and Oklahoma State (3) who will meet in the finals of the ITA Division I Women’s National Team Indoor Championship.

Beginning with the opening semifinal match of the day, Michigan took on NC State (8) which proved to be another exciting match, with both teams looking to be in control at various points. In a back-and-forth doubles affair, Michigan earned wins from the No. 1 and No. 3 positions to take the early lead heading into singles.

Across singles play, Michigan earned two straight-set victories from the No. 2 and No. 6 positions before NC State would respond with a straight-set victory at the No. 1 position for their lone point in the match. The clinch for the Wolverines came from the No. 5 position and Lily Jones who clinched Michigan’s first-ever trip to the ITA National Team Indoor Championship Finals.

In the other semifinal match between Oklahoma State (3) and Stanford (2), the Cowgirls continued to do what they’ve done all year in win close matches through their depth and veteran presence across their entire roster.

After taking the doubles point, Oklahoma State would split four courts with the Cardinal to move the match score to 3-2 before the match was clinched at the No. 5 position. In a battle of experience vs youth, Ayumi Miyamoto took down Katherine Hui 6-0, 2-6, 6-2 to secure the win and another top-ten victory on their resume.

Familiar foes, these two finalists have already played once this spring season when Michigan traveled down to Oklahoma State to play the Cowgirls on January 19th. In this match, Oklahoma State was able to utilize the momentum of their fans and home courts to scrape out a 4-2 victory over the Wolverines.

Neither Michigan nor Oklahoma State has ever won the ITA Division I Women’s National Team Indoor Championship, so regardless of the winner tomorrow, history will be made.

Tomorrow’s final will begin at noon (PST) from the Nordstrom Tennis Center and fans are encouraged to attend the action if they are in the area, or if you cannot make it, follow along with the extensive coverage of the tournament on the ITA website or social media channels.
