A pair of 4-3 epic Quarterfinal battles highlighted day two of the 2023 ITA Division I Men’s National Team Indoor Championship at the XS Tennis Village in Chicago.

Defending ITA Indoor National Champion, TCU (10-0), is the only returning Semifinalist this year after a resounding 4-0 victory over Georgia in the Saturday morning matchup.

The third-seeded Horned Frogs will meet second-seeded Kentucky (12-0) at Noon CT tomorrow in a rematch of the 2022 NCAA Tournament quarterfinal, resulting in a 4-3 Kentucky win. The Wildcats rallied from a 3-2 deficit against seventh-seeded USC, earning three-set victories from freshman Charlie Cosnet at No. 5 singles and junior Joshua Lapadat at No. 3 singles.

Michigan (12-0) is the third undefeated team in the Semifinals after a 4-0 triumph over fifth-seeded Virginia.

The Wolverines face eighth-seeded Texas at 3:30 pm CT tomorrow after the Longhorns came back after trailing 2-0 to knock off top-seed, and previously undefeated, Ohio State, 4-3. Junior Eliot Spizzirri and Micah Braswell won three-set matches to give the Longhorns a 3-2 advantage in the match. Buckeye senior Robert Cash evened the match at 3-3 with a three-set victory from the No. 5 spot.

Texas sophomore Pierre-Yves Bailly then prevailed over Ohio State’s Cannon Kingsley at No. 2 singles, 6-7 (4), 7-6 (2), 6-2 in a nearly three-hour match to help the Longhorns avenge their only loss of the season to the Buckeyes on Feb. 5 in Columbus.

The action continues tomorrow from the XS Tennis Center with play begging at 9 am (CT) and continuing through 6:30 pm (CT) when the last matches get on court. Be sure to keep up with all of the action through the Cracked Racquets broadcast or through the ITA Social Media streams across Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
