Honfleur, France – Kicking off in just two days from France, the 2022 Master’U BNP Paribas Championships are set to be an exhibition of some of the shining stars from the collegiate ranks as 25 of the 46 players are current or former NCAA student-athletes.

Now in its 15th year, the Master’U Championship is the world event of university tennis and features an eight-nation field of Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Switzerland, and the United States.

Featuring both current and former collegiate athletes, over half the field participating in this year’s event have come through the American university system, representing both the NCAA Division I and NCAA Division II levels.

In total, six of the eight participating countries will feature players who have played for NCAA institutions, including Australia and the United States whose entire roster comes from the American university system.

Not just any collegiate players either, several top-ranking and award-winning players will be featured in this year’s competition such as Charlie Broom (Great Britain), Fiona Crawley (United States), and Adam Walton (Australia).

These players will all be representing their country in a unique format of play where there will be two women’s singles matches, two men’s singles matches, one women’s doubles match, one men’s doubles match, and one mixed doubles match.

The country that wins four of these seven matches is declared the victor and advances in the tournament.

Play is set to begin this Friday at the Ligue de Normandie de Tennis Club in Honfleur, France, and will continue through Sunday when a champion is crowned. More information surrounding the competition can be found on the Master’U BNP Paribas Championship website.
