INDIANAPOLIS, IN. – On the third day of competition at the ITA Division II National Men’s Team Indoor Championships, Barry University captured the ITA DII Men’s Team Indoor title for the second time in program history. The Buccaneers previously won the title in 2022. 

Starting with doubles, Barry got the 6-1 win on court 3 before the Lions responded quickly with a 6-4 win on court 1. Coming down to court 2, it was Saint Leo who clinched the doubles point to give the Lions the 1-0 edge heading into singles. 

Moving to singles play, Dylan Andrianaly on court six was the first to finish his match in just 49 minutes, winning 6-2, 6-1 and putting the Lions up 2-0. The next point went to Barry on court four with Tim Riedel taking down Ghali Mensour 6-4, 6-2. 

On court two Vincent Thiel put the Lions within one point of the title with his 6-4, 6-4 win over Adam Lynch but the Bucceeners found a way to even the match with wins on courts 1, 3 and 4. 

With the match and championship title on the line, all eyes turned to court 5 with Barry’s Bastien Rieme and Saint Leo’s Luis Iriarte in a third set. After a 6-4 win in the first set, Rieme dropped the second 6-2. Unphased, Rieme rallied back to take the third set 6-3 and clinch the match and title for the Bucs. 

For the second time in program history, the Buccaneers will return home with the ITA Division II National Men’s Team Indoor Championship title. 

With the victory, the Buccaneers have now become the first team in the history of the ITA Division II National Men’s Team Indoor Championships to win the event a second time.
