It has been yet another exciting fall college tennis season and next week the grand finale to the fall season will be played when the nation’s top players all converge in San Diego, California for the playing of the 2023 ITA National Fall Championships. Play is set to begin on Wednesday, November 1st and will continue through Sunday, November 5th from the Barnes Tennis Center.

Below is everything you need to know before play begins from the National Fall Championships next week:


What Are The ITA National Fall Championships:

The National Fall Championships are the grand finale to the fall collegiate tennis season and feature 64 of the nation’s top collegiate singles players (32 men and 32 women) and 64 doubles teams (32 men’s team and 32 women’s teams). The event is in its seventh year, having replaced the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships beginning in 2017. 

Players qualify for the ITA National Fall Championships through the ITA Regional Championships, ITA All-American Championships, Milwaukee Tennis Classic, as well as the ITA Cup.

When Are The ITA National Fall Championships:

The ITA National Fall Championships will take place from November 1-5 in San Diego, California at the Barnes Tennis Center. Players will play one round of singles and one round of doubles each day, with a complete back draw also being played out for players or teams that lose on the opening day of play.

How To Watch The Action:

Cracked Racquets is set to provide coverage of the ITA National Fall Championships beginning on Wednesday, November 1st. Fans can watch the streams by searching Cracked Racquets on YouTube or subscribing to the Cracked Racquets YouTube page to stay up to date with all of the college tennis coverage they are set to provide this season.

Who Are Previous Winners:

In 2022 Nishesh Basavareddy (Stanford, Men’s) and Fiona Crawley (North Carolina, Women’s) took home the singles titles, while in doubles, Andrew Lutschaunig and JJ Tracy (Ohio State, Men’s) as well as Savannah Broadus and Janice Tjen (Pepperdine, Women’s) were crowned National Fall Champions. 

These players joined the prestigious list of previous champions which includes the likes of Sargis Sargsian (Arizona State, 1994 & 1995), James Blake (Harvard, 1999), Steve Johnson (USC, 2009), Robin Anderon (UCLA, 2012), Dominik Koepfer (Tulane, 2015), Francesca Di Lorenzo (Ohio State, 2015 & 2016), and Nuno Borges (Mississippi State, 2017).
