The South Carolina Gamecocks started day three at the ITA Women’s All-American Championships at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, North Carolina in fine fashion.

Junior 2021 All-American singles champion Sarah Hamner, having advanced through qualifying, edged Jessica Alsola of Cal 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 while #6 seed Ayana Akli defeated Michigan’s Kari Miller in a straight-set 6-2, 6-4 victory. Miller was coming off a win over #1 seed Fiona Crawley in yesterday’s Round of 16.

Mary Stoiana, the #2 seed from Texas A&M, is moving onto the semifinals after defeating Georgia #5 seed Dasha Vidmanova 7-6(3), 7-5. 2021 All-American finalist Alexa Noel of Miami booked her way to the final four knocking out Arkansas’ Carolina Gomez Alonso 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

In tomorrow’s 11 am ET singles semifinals, Akli will face Noel, while Hamner takes on Stoiana.

In doubles, it was the top seeded teams that ran into trouble. The unseeded Anna Zyryanova and Sophie Abrams of NC State upset #1 seeds Reese Brantmeier and Elizabeth Scotty of North Carolina 6-3, 3-6, (10-7) followed by Mary Stoiana and Mia Kupres of Texas A&M downing #2 seeded Fiona Crawley and Carson Tangulig of the Tar Heels.

Oklahoma’s pairing of Dana Guzman and Alina Shcherbinia narrowly defeated Selin Ovunc and DJ Bennett of Auburn 6-4, 3-6, (10-7) while Virginia’s Melodie Collard and Annabelle Xu booked their ticket into the doubles final four with a straight-forward win over Oklahoma State’s Anastasiya Komar and Raquel Gonzalez 6-2, 6-2.

Stoiana is through to both the women’s singles and doubles semifinals.
