JUCO Women's Wilson ITA Coach of the Year

Sarah Lytle from Hillsborough Community College has been named the 2023 Wilson ITA Coach of the Year. Coach Lytle has consistently had a team that performs at the highest level, the team from this past year being no exception. Hillsborough Community College went undefeated in region play and won against all levels of opponents. Her team sat at the top of the team rankings for the entire spring season.


ITA Assistant Coach of the Year

Matt Brunnquell | American River College

JUCO Women's ITA Assistant Coach of the Year

Matt Brunnquell from American River College has been named the 2023 ITA Assistant Coach of the Year. Coach Brunnquell has done a tremendous job with the American River College Women’s Tennis team. With his direction, the ARC women won the California State Championship and went 14-3 overall in the season, losing only to 4 year universities. This success is in large part due to Coach Brunnquell.


ITA Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship

Hrudaya Shah | Tyler Junior College

JUCO Women's ITA Arthur Ashe Award

Hrudaya Shah from Tyler Junior College has been named the 2023 ITA Arthur Ashe Leadership Award winner. During her time at Tyler Junior College, Shah has found success on the court, in the classroom, and in the community. With a 4.00 GPA, she was on the President and Dean’s list for both 2021-22 and 2022-23 academic school years. On top of being a great teammate and leader, she has been a part of many community events including events such as the Tyler Type 1 Tennis Night, Hope Open volunteering, reading at the Rice Elementary Read-a-thon, and volunteering at the Apache Pro Am.


ITA Rookie of the Year

Alexandra Melnikova | Cowley College

JUCO Women's ITA Rookie of the Year

Alexandra Melnikova from Cowley College has been named the 2023 ITA Rookie of the Year. Melnikova played at the No. 1 singles spot in both singles and doubles. She led the No. 2 ranked women’s team to a tremendous season highlighted by defeating NCAA Division I teams including Missouri State University, NCAA Division II teams, including Nebraske Kearny, Cameron University, Washburn, Southwest Baptist, and top NJCAA teams, including Tyler Junior College, Collin College, Seward County, Barton County.


ITA Most Improved Sophomore

Esmee Andresen | Hillsborough Community College

JUCO Women's ITA Most Improved Sophomore

Esmee Andresen from Hillsborough Community College has been named the 2023 ITA Most Improved Sophomore. This season, Andresen had an overall singles record at the #2 position of 10-4, with a JUCO record of 9-0. She was the 2022 ITA Regional Doubles Champion, 2022 ITA Cup National Doubles Champion, 2023 NJCAA Region 8 Singles champion at the #2 position, 2023 NJCAA Region 8 doubles champion at the #1 position, 2022 NJCAA National Champion at the #5 singles position, and 2022 NJCAA National Champion at the #3 doubles position.


ITA Sophomore Player of the Year

Arina Gamretkaia | Hillsborough Community College

JUCO Women's ITA Sophomore Player of the Year

Arina Gamretkaia from Hillsborough Community College has been named the 2023 ITA Sophomore Player of the Year. Gamretkaia had an overall singles record of 11-2, with a JUCO record of 8-1 at the Singles #1 position. She had an overall doubles record of 12-1, with a JUCO record of 9-0 at the Doubles #1 position. Gamretkaia was the 2023 NJCAA Region 8 singles and doubles champion at the #1 positions. She brought in #1 rankings in the ITA JUCO rankings in both singles and doubles.
