College Tennis Matches of the Week – March 20th, 2023

TEMPE, AZ – As we pass the halfway point of the 2023 spring season for many programs, many highly-contested conference matchups are on the books for this week of play as teams look to set themselves up for conference championships which are just a month away.

Amongst the numerous marquee matchups set for this week, these eight matches stand out amongst the crowd, as seven of the eight matchups are battles between two top 15 teams in the country, while the other features two of the top non-power five programs in the nation.

At the Division I level, No. 8 USC is set to travel to Fort Worth to take on No. 1 TCU for what is to be one of the top non-conference matchups this week. Also on the men’s side of play, No. 36 VCU travels to No. 28 Cornell as both teams look to continue their impressive 2023 seasons with a huge ranked victory this Sunday.

For the Division I Women’s matchups, No. 11 Virginia heads to Coral Gables to face No. 13 Miami as they both rank within the top four of the ACC Standings currently. Keeping with the conference matchups, No. 4 Iowa State is set to battle No. 14 Texas this week. The Longhorns will look for revenge after the Cyclones beat them for the first time in program history at the Indoor Championships.

From the small college level, there are three top ten matchups as No. 6 Barton takes on No. 7 Seward on the men’s side, while No. 6 Middlebury takes on No. 5 Pomona-Pitzer and No. 10 State College of Florida faces No. 1 Hillsborough on the women’s side.

The final match of the week from the small college level comes from Division II as No. 6 Columbus State heads to the Sunshine State to face No. 13 West Florida in what will be a battle between two of the top men’s programs in the South and Southeast Regions.

The remaining small college matchups featured this week include, No. 6 UChicago against No. 11 Trinity (TX) (Men’s) as well as No. 2 Cowley against No. 3 Tyler (Women’s).
