Anderson And Isner Put College Tennis In Spotlight With Epic Wimbledon Semifinal

College tennis was firmly in the worldwide spotlight on Friday, July 13, 2018, as former collegiate standouts Kevin Anderson (Illinois) and John Isner (Georgia) competed against one another in what would prove to be an all-time classic encounter in the men’s singles semifinals at Wimbledon.

After a grueling six hours and 36 minutes, Anderson emerged victorious with a 7-6 (6), 6-7 (5), 6-7 (9), 6-4, 26-24 decision to book his spot in Sunday’s final, against either Novak Djokovic or Rafael Nadal. It’ll be the second finals appearance in the last four grand slams (2017 US Open) for the eighth-seeded Anderson, while No. 9 Isner was attempting to reach his first career grand slam final.

Speaking of Isner, he was the No. 3 trend in the United States on Twitter during Friday’s match. Below is a look at some of those tweets, as well as articles and videos highlighting the epic match.
