Lake Nona, Florida – In just a few days, many of the nation’s best collegiate wheelchair tennis players will converge at the USTA National Campus in Lake Nona, Florida for the 2024 ITA National Wheelchair Tennis Championships.

Previously known as the USTA Collegiate Wheelchair Tennis National Championships, this event will be entering its 24th year in 2024 as collegiate wheelchair tennis continues to grow on college campuses across the country. Taking place from April 10-13 this year’s field of teams includes: Alabama, Arizona, Auburn, Clemson, Houston, Michigan, Michigan State, San Diego State, Virginia, and Virginia Tech.

Matching an all-time high for competing teams, this year’s field is as deep as ever with numerous programs having their sights set on dethroning Alabama in the team competition who have won the past seven National Championships.

In 2024, the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) and NCAA are once again committed to further inclusion of Paralympic sports into NCAA Championships. Beginning last year, the two National Wheelchair Tennis Championship team finalists were invited to Lake Nona in May to crown a champion alongside the NCAA Division I Women’s Team Championship. This year, the final four of the National Collegiate Singles Wheelchair Tennis Championships will be played alongside the NCAA Division I singles championships in Stillwater, Oklahoma this May.

Format & Rules

Team matches will have a total of three points up for grabs with one doubles match counting for one point, and two singles matches counting for the two remaining team points. The first team to claim two of these three possible team points will be awarded the win for that dual match. Individual matches follow a best-of-three format with a 10-point match tiebreak being in place in lieu of the third set. No-ad scoring will also be used in individual match play.

Teams are allowed to utilize “affiliate players” meaning staff or other affiliated individuals with the school can compete alongside current student-athletes. This results in a unique roster makeup of both younger and more experienced players who are all competing under their college or university affiliation.
