In June of 2025, the ITA Rules Committee approved the use of Electronic Line Calling in college tennis. ITA Rule I.V – Electronic Line Calling states:
“The ITA will maintain a current list of ITA approved electronic line calling (“ELC”) systems. ITA approval for any ELC system is contingent upon the ELC system having obtained the appropriate certification from the International Tennis Federation (“ITF”). Only ELC systems that are ITA approved and listed on the “ITA’s Approved ELC System List” can be used during any dual match, ITA Regional, ITA Sectional, ITA National, or ITA-Sanctioned Tournament or Event. The use of an ITA-approved ELC system during a dual match, ITA Regional, ITA Sectional, ITA National, or ITA-Sanctioned Tournament or Event must follow all the rules, requirements, processes, and procedures delineated in the “ITA ELC Protocol” that is maintained and regularly updated by the ITA and available on the ITA’s website or by contacting the ITA’s Senior Director of Officiating. Further, any ITA member institution using any approved ELC system must notify the ITA Senior Director of Officiating so that the ITA can maintain its list of “ITA Institutions Using Approved ELC Systems.”
