Job Summary:
Drake University Athletics seeks a candidate to assist the Director of Tennis. This includes assisting in the individual and team preparations of the physical and mental aspects for athletes to be their best in practice and competition. The assistant will also organize home and away matches including transportation, meals, and hotel arrangements. There will be opportunity to assist with recruiting efforts and fundraising. In addition, the assistant will serve as a liaison to the strength & conditioning coach.
All of the essential job duties described below require an understanding of and compliance with the rules of the NCAA, the MVC, and Drake University.
Skills Needed:
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
- Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information.
- Ability to build rapport and students, faculty and staff.
- Skills to help student-athletes improve through training / coaching.
- Proficiency to produce scouting reports, recruiting evaluations and complete work within deadlines.
- Familiarity for current research and trends in Tennis.
- Ability to develop and sustain relationships with prospective student athletes, parents, and coaches.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Knowledge and basic proficiency using Word, Excel, Google Applications and Photoshop.
- Knowledge of applicable NCAA Rules and regulations.
- Experience playing at the collegiate level preferred.
Job Duties:
Drake University, a Division I institution competing in the Missouri Valley Conference, seeks an Assistant Women’s Tennis Coach.
Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
- 50% – Assist the Director of Tennis with individual and team preparations of the physical and mental aspects for the athletes to be their best in practice and in competition. – (Essential)

- 10% – Assist with recruiting efforts for the Women’s Tennis program. – (Essential)
- 10% – Coordinate fundraising opportunities to support the program. – (Essential)
- 10% – Serve as the liaison to the strength and conditioning coach for the Women’s Tennis student athletes. – (Essential)
- 5% – Assist with racquet stringing for student athletes. – (Essential)
- 5% – Contribute to a positive academic, athletic, and social environment for student athletes within the Women’s Tennis program, creating a culture of excellence and ethics. – (Essential)
