ITA Summer Series powered by WTN – Week Two Wrap-Up

TEMPE, Ariz. – The ITA Summer Series powered by WTN is officially back, and after two weeks of competition in the books, eight total players have received automatic qualifications to the ITA National Summer Championships from August 8-11 in Waco, Texas hosted by Baylor University.

A pair of Wake Forest Demon Deacons are among the men’s qualifiers, while a Penn State Nittany Lion and a Notre Dame Fighting Irish round out half of the women’s qualifiers. Other programs represented in the automatic qualifiers include Davidson College and Furman University.

In the Summer Points Race Series, St. Mary’s Lucas Castillo-Sanchez is knotted with Sergio Garin atop the men’s leaderboard, as both were victorious in back-to-back weekends. Sanchez-Castillo was the ‘A’ Flight champion at Baylor (Week 1) and Trinity (Week 2), while Garin won the ‘A’ Flight draws at CMS (Week 1) and CSUN (Week 2). Miguel Castrillion sits in second with 615 points, courtesy of two exceptional showings at Washburn (Week 1/Champion) and Wichita State (Week 2/Finalist).

In the women’s standings, Indiana’s Hi’Ilani Williams enjoys a comfortable lead in first place (740 points) after winning the first two tournaments she played in at Louisville (Week 1) and Drake (Week 2). Trailing Williams and rounding out the top three is Isid Hernandez Leon (440 points) and Missouri Western State’s Ella Gates (390 points).
