Sarver Tennis Center – Staff Tennis Professional

The Tucson JCC seeks a tennis professional for our six hard-court Sarver Tennis Center (STC). As a part of the Wellness Department + Experience Team, the Tennis Professional should always maintain safety and order as a primary focus and should greet all customers with a warm and welcoming attitude. The successful candidate will work with other professionals and exhibit strong team skills.

Tucson Jewish Community Center
3800 E River Road
Tucson, AZ 85718

SCHEDULE:
Sunday-Friday, daytime and evening hours available. Maximum of 29 hours per week. Availability to cover vacation and sick callouts is appreciated. Weekly clinic schedule will remain consistent, and will have growth opportunities. Private lessons and court booking for lessons is the responsibility of each instructor.

ESSENTIAL JOB QUALITIES AND DUTIES:
Have deep knowledge and experience playing, teaching, and coaching tennis
Enforce facility rules
Experience with Tennis Programming
Ability to work and coordinate with the STC Front Desk Administrator
Use the STC court reservation system to schedule lessons
Offer instructional services including small groups, clinics, private, and semi-private lessons
Follow the session plans and program structure of the STC
Attend staff and facility meetings
Promote the facility and amenities to potential members
Participate in STC Socials

REQUIRED:
USTA 4.5+, Collegiate tennis playing experience or high level high school player
Strong team player
Administrative skills including computer knowledge and experience
Excellent customer service skills
Strong work ethic with initiative
USTA Safe Play Certification
CPR/AED Certification
Teaching certification from USTA, RSPA, PTR, and/or ITF current or within six months of employment

PREFERRED:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
3+ years as a tennis professional and/or collegiate coaching or personal coaching experience of high-level player, or ATP/WTA/ITA coaching or playing experience

COMPENSATION:
Compensation commensurate with experience. Administrative work as needed. Clinics starting $25/hr (approximately 10-15 hrs/week), Private Lessons are commission based and start at $45/hr-there are many opportunities for private lessons through clinic participants and existing players
