Coach, organize and administer the varsity tennis program. Direct all aspects of team management including staff responsibilities, practice sessions, scheduling, travel, player academic progress, budget control, equipment and public relations. Be knowledgeable and follow NCAA Division III and USA South Athletic Conference policies and procedures regarding intercollegiate athletics. Demonstrate a commitment to the athletics department mission. Head coach reports to the Athletics Director. This position is part-time, 10 months.
Duties:
- Schedule practices and contests.
- Organization and management of practices and contests.
- Management of travel arrangements.
- Development of a recruiting program that attracts quality student-athletes who will contribute to a competitive Division III program.
- Counseling student-athletes regarding other issues related to the college experience in addition to their intercollegiate athletic responsibilities.
- Ordering and maintaining all equipment.
- Overseeing the program’s practice and competition facilities.
- Organization of pre-season and college break facilities and meals for student-athletes.
- Supervision of an annual budget that complies with the given parameters.
- Participation in professional development activities and other required college functions.
- Participation in staff meetings.
- Promotion of the program in the community and with alumnae.
- Collaboration with the Sports Information Director in reporting all relevant team information in a timely manner. – Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of two years experience coaching tennis is required.
- Head coaching experience at the club, high school, or college level preferred.
- College recruiting experience preferred; ability to assess talent and recruit.
- Ability to relate well to the college community, including students, faculty and alumnae, as well as the general public and media; also expected is a dedication to the full educational development of the student athletes in the program.
- Candidate must possess a thorough understanding and working knowledge of NCAA Division III regulations.
- All candidates must have a commitment to the NCAA Division III philosophy and its rules and regulations.
- Valid NC Driver License and a clean driving history is required.
