Lake Nona, FL – The four semifinalists are now set at the 2025 ITA National Wheelchair Tennis Championship as Alabama, Auburn, Arizona, and Michigan all qualified on Friday from the courts of the USTA National Campus.

Matching up the top two teams from each pool after day one, the stakes were as high as ever in today’s final round of pool play as three teams were going to gain direct entry into the semifinals with wins, while two of the three losing teams would have to battle it out in a playoff match to determine the fourth semifinalist.

Arizona delivered the biggest upset on the day when they took down defending champions Houston in the morning round of matches to advance to the semifinals. The Bearcats relied on a strong doubles performance and good play from the No. 1 singles position to move on in the championship.

Alabama continued their dominance on Friday, taking down Virginia 3-0 to advance. The 2024-25 ITA Wheelchair Tennis Singles Champion, Francesco Felici, was impressive once again on Friday delivering a strong performance in doubles and singles to push the Tide over the Cavaliers.

Michigan was the third and final team to advance out of pool play by beating Auburn 2-1 in what was a back and forth match. Mounting a massive comeback in doubles, the Wolverines earned a win a No. 1 singles to clinch the match and their spot in the semifinals.

In the playoff match, Auburn and Houston met after having the best set win percentage out of the second place finishers. Bouncing back from their earlier defeat, Auburn cruised to a victory in the playoff match to earn their place in the semifinals where they will keep their hopes alive for a national championship.

Play will once again begin at 9 am (EST) on Saturday with a consolation match between Clemson and Michigan State leading off the day. At 12:30 pm (EST) the two semifinal matches will get underway with the winners booking their ticket to the finals on Sunday. In the semifinals, Alabama will take on Arizona while Michigan will face Auburn.
