Dallas, TX – The Wake Forest Demon Deacons have been crowned the 2025 ITA Division I Men’s National Team Indoor Champions after defeating TCU 4-3 in Tuesday’s thrilling final.
Marking the end of five days of the top indoor event on the college tennis calendar, the Championship marked the first ITA National Team Indoor Championship for Wake Forest since 2018, and is their second title in program history.
With hardly an empty chair to be found at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex and with tens of thousands of fans watching online, the championship match delivered the show-stopping appeal that college tennis fans have come to know and love, finishing with a decisive third set on court No. 1 between two of the top players in all of college tennis.
Taking a hard-fought doubles point with wins on courts No. 1 and No. 3, the Demon Deacons utilized the extra momentum from doubles to push them ahead with four first sets going their way to begin singles play. Not letting the moment get away from them, TCU countered with a push of their own, winning on courts No. 2 and No. 3 in straight sets as well as a three set win on court No. 5 to tie the match at three all after Wake Forest took courts No. 4 and No. 6 respectively.
Leaving the fans and online viewers with a treat, the deciding match came down to Stefan Dostanic (Wake Forest) and Jack Pinnington Jones (TCU) who are two of the top ranked players in college tennis. As two ATP Top 500 ranked players, both Dostanic and Pinnington Jones were trading blows until Dostanic was able to earn an early break in the third set.
Fending off a few break chances from Pinnington Jones, Dostanic stayed cool under pressure and delivered when his team needed him the most winning 7-6 (3), 5-7, 6-4 from the No. 1 singles line. This marks the second ITA National Team Indoor Championship title for Dostanic as he won one his freshman year with USC.
