Tempe, AZ – After three days of competition across campus host sites across the country, the 14 men’s and women’s programs who have qualified for the 2025 ITA Division I Men’s and Women’s National Team Indoor Championships are now set.
Featuring many familiar names to college tennis fans as well as some breakthrough teams who are continuing their rise up the college tennis landscape, the 2025 ITA Kickoff Weekend delivered much excitement across each day of play bringing together the nation’s top teams for a weekend that sets the tone for many program’s season ahead.
Across the men’s advancing teams, nine return to the Team Indoor Championships after competing last season (Columbia, Duke, Michigan, Ohio State, Texas, Texas A&M, TCU, Virginia, and Wake Forest). These nine advancing teams include TCU and Ohio State who faced off in a thrilling final last year in New York in front of a packed house at the newly built Milstein Family Tennis Center.
Six non-host schools came out victorious for the men as Michigan, NC State, San Diego, Stanford, Texas A&M, and UCF all earned berth into the Team Indoors. For UCF, this will be the first time they have competed at the Team Indoor Championships, while for San Diego, this will be just their second appearance in one of the most prestigious events on the college tennis calendar.
It is the ACC placing the most schools in the advancing group with five of the 14 teams residing in the conference. The Ivy League and the West Coast Conference are the only non-power four conferences to send teams to the Team Indoors.
For the women, we will see ten teams who competed in 2024 back for the 2025 ITA Team Indoor Championship (Auburn, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Oklahoma State, Pepperdine, Stanford, Texas, Texas A&M, and Virginia). Defending champs, Oklahoma State, will be back with an opportunity to defend their title, while runners-up Michigan will also be back looking to lift the title this year.
Three non-host schools moved on this weekend as Auburn, LSU, and Oklahoma each picked up big wins over the weekend to keep their hopes alive for the Team Indoor Title. This will mark just the third appearance for both LSU and Oklahoma at the Team Indoor Championships with Oklahoma earning all three births within the past four seasons.
A whopping seven of the 14 advancing teams come from the SEC. The West Coast Conference will be the only non-power four conference represented at the Team Indoor Championships as Pepperdine once again handled business as hosts.
