Tempe, AZ – With another year coming to a close, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) wanted to take a look back at some of the top moments within college tennis from the 2024 calendar year.

From the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, NCAA Individual & Team Championships, Olympic Games, Grand Slams, and countless other championships and events in which current and former college tennis players competed, this year was another shining example of all of the talent currently in college tennis and currently on the professional tours.

Below are many of the top moments from this past calendar year. The date after each category of top moments correlates to the date in which that category will be featured on the ITA social media pages, reliving these exciting moments once again.

ITA National Team Indoor Championship Top Moments – Featured on Dec. 17th
  • Top-seeded Ohio State comes back to defeat No. 2 TCU 4-3 to capture the ITA Division I Men’s National Team Indoor Championship for the third time in program history.
  • Emory University wins the program’s tenth ITA Division III Men’s National Team Indoor Championship, the most by any program in tournament history.
  • CMS tops UChicago in the ITA Division III Women’s National Team Indoor Championship, a rematch of the 2023 ITA National Team Indoor Championship & NCAA Team Championship.
  • Barry sweeps ITA Division II Men’s and Women’s National Team Indoor Championship Titles.
  • Georgia Gwinnett captures it first ITA NAIA Men’s and Women’s National Team Indoor Championship Titles.
Outdoor National Championship Top Moments – Featured Dec. 18th
  • Filip Planinsek (Alabama) wins the first NCAA Division I Men’s Singles National Championship in Alabama program history.
  • Alexa Noel (Miami (FL)) is crowned the NCAA Division I Women’s Singles National Champion, the third champion in program history, and the 10th ACC student-athlete to capture the women’s singles NCAA title.
  • Texas A&M wins their program’s first NCAA Division I Women’s Team Championship.
  • TCU wins their program’s first NCAA Division I Men’s Team Championship over rival Texas.
  • Nova Southeastern wins their program’s first NCAA Divison II Women’s Team Championship over conference foe Barry.
  • UChicago sweeps the NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Team Championships.
  • Georgia Gwinnett continues their dominance at the NAIA Team Championships, sweeping both the men’s and women’s titles for the eighth straight year.
  • Houston dethrones Alabama in the ITA National Collegiate Wheelchair Tennis Championships.
  • American River wins back-to-back CCCAA Women’s Team State Championships.
  • Cowley College wins the program’s first NJCAA Women’s Tennis Team Championship.
College On Tour Top Moments – Featured Dec. 19
  • John Peers (MTSU & Baylor) wins gold at the Olympics, the first Baylor tennis alum to win a gold medal at the Olympics.
  • Rajeev Ram (Illinois) and Austin Krajicek (Texas A&M) bring the United States its first Olympic medal in men’s doubles since the 2012 Olympics.
  • Diana Shnaider (NC State) wins silver at the Olympics in women’s doubles.
  • Henry Patten (UNC Asheville) becomes a Grand Slam Men’s Doubles Champion at Wimbledon.
  • Marcelo Arevalo (Tulsa) wins second Grand Slam Doubles Title at the French Open and finishes No. 1 in the world.
  • Lulu Sun (Texas) reaches the singles quarterfinals at Wimbledon and is named the WTA Newcomer of the Year.
  • Emma Navarro (Virginia) reached the quarterfinals at Wimbledon and the semifinals at the US Open before being named the WTA Most Improved Player.
  • Danielle Collins (Virginia) wins back-to-back WTA titles at the Miami Open and Credit One Charleston Open to enter back into the WTA Top Ten.
  • Jake Fearnley (TCU) climbs hundreds of spots to enter the ATP Top 100 just a few months after leading TCU to their first NCAA Team Title.
College Tennis Fall Season Top Moments – Featured Dec. 20
  • Maria Sholokhova (Wisconsin) becomes the first ITA Women’s All-American Singles Champion in Wisconsin history.
  • Oliver Tarvet (San Diego) becomes the first player to win both the ITA Men’s All-American Championship Singles and Doubles Titles since 2015.
  • Ashley Simes (Lee) wins the first ITA Cup Division II Women’s Singles Title in Lee program history.
  • Tyler Junior College claims three of four JUCO National Individual Championships at the ITA Cup.
  • Frencesco Felici (Alabama) wins his first ITA Collegiate Wheelchair Tennis National Singles Championship in his first year at Alabama.
  • Team USA wins fifth straight gold medal at the Master’U BNP Paribas Championships.
  • Michael Zheng (Columbia) wins the first NCAA Singles Championship since 1906 for Columbia after reaching the finals for the second straight tournament.
  • Dasha Vidmanova becomes the first player since 1979 to win both the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championship during her collegiate career.
