Cary, NC – Eight singles and four doubles NCAA Individual Championship qualifiers have been determined on the third day of main draw play at the ITA Women’s All-American Championships.
In singles play, Ange Oby Kajuru (Oklahoma State), Elza Tomase (Tennessee), Valerie Glozman (Stanford), Theadora Rabman (North Carolina), DJ Bennett (Auburn), Tatum Evans (North Carolina), Savannah Broadus (Pepperdine), and Maria Sholokhova (Wisconsin) all earned their spot into the NCAA Individual Championships in November.
Two qualifying singles spots are still up for grabs tomorrow as both consolation draw finalists will earn direct acceptance into the NCAA Individual Championships. The remaining players in the singles consolation draw will be playing two matches tomorrow to determine the remaining two qualifiers.
After determining the eight qualifiers, all had to play one more match on the day to determine the main draw semifinalists. After several close matches, it will be Tomase, Rabman, Evans, and Sholokhova who each advance to the semifinals where they will be just two wins away from being crowned ITA All-American Champions.
In doubles, the four NCAA Individual Championship qualifiers include Kimmi Hance/Elise Wagle (UCLA), Mao Mushkia/Jessica Alsola (Cal), Gabriella Broadfoot/Maddy Zampardo (NC State), and Lily Fairclough/Grace Piper (USC). These four qualifying spots are the only four up for grabs at the All-American Championships as these teams become the first to claim their spots.
Semifinal play from the Cary Tennis Park begins at 10 am (EST) with singles hitting the court first in the morning.
