ATLANTA, GA. – Play for the 23rd Annual Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) National Tennis Championships will be underway this Thursday, September 18 at the South Fulton Tennis Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Players at the tournament will have the opportunity to compete in both singles and doubles with numerous draws and back draws available to ensure multiple matches.

Thirty-six teams from eight national conferences will be in attendance to the championships this year including the Horizon League, MEAC, CAA, SWAC, Big South, SIAC, OVC, GCAC and ECAC. Such variety in conferences brings together players from all levels of competition with numerous Division I, Division II, and NAIA institutions being represented.

The Team Champion is set to be determined by individual play across the singles and doubles draws. Points will be awarded based on finish and the team with the most points at the end of the Championship will take home the Team National Championship.

Prior to the start of the event, a RISE event will be hosted on Wednesday, September 18th, the HBCU College Fair, HBCU Alumni Doubles Mixer, and HBCU High School Recruiting Showcase. Other events will take place during the tournament as well.
