Tempe, AZ – Marking the official start of the 2024 ITA Summer Series powered by WTN, the first weekend of play from the ITA Summer Points Race Series powered by WTN and the ITA Summer Masters Series powered by WTN are now complete. With six ITA Summer Points Race Series tournaments and one ITA Summer Masters Series tournament in week one, several players kicked their summers off with a bang in what will be the first of six straight weekends of play.

During week one, $6,000 in prize money was handed out to competitors, while eight players (four men and four women) earned their spots into the ITA National Summer Championships powered by WTN with their finishes in the ITA Summer Masters Series.

Beginning with the ITA Summer Masters Series, Northwestern welcomed in players during week one, hosting men’s players with a minimum WTN of 10.0 and women’s players with a minimum WTN of 17.0. In singles only competition, these athletes were playing for $3,000 in total prize money as well as for a qualifying spot in the ITA National Summer Championships where $20,000 in total prize money awaits.

Crowned champions were Jackson Caldwell of Northwestern on the men’s side and Emma Jackson of Duke on the women’s side. As former blue-chip and five star recruits by Tennis Recruiting Network, Caldwell has just finished up his freshman season at Northwestern while Jackson will be entering her senior season this fall for Duke.

The remaining ITA National Summer Championship qualifiers include Pedro Alvarez (Chicago State), Connor Robb-Wilcox (Denver), and Nedim Suko (Washington) for the men and Ella Brownback, Addison Lanton, and Maria Rizzolo (Mississippi State) for the women.

Across ITA Summer Points Race Series play in week one, all six champions on both the men’s and women’s sides of play were either current or incoming collegiate athletes. With six events across six different state, over 350 players competed during the first weekend of competition as all players look to climb up the ITA Summer Points Race Standings.

Players coming out victorious include Joaquin Caballer (Western Michigan), Teddy Callery (Holy Cross), Guilherme Cupertino (UT Southern), Mason Landreth (Louisiana), Thomas Navarro (UNLV), and David Saye (Michigan State) for the men and Reya Coe (Nebraska), Johannah Galindo (Hawaii), Mia Matriccino (Loyola), Valeriya Monko (Western Michigan), Abby Nugent (Xavier), and Ellie Pittman (Texas A&M) for the women.
